Nearly fifty years of learning what homes actually need

The Beginning

It started with a roof that didn't get fixed right. In 1978, my father looked at what was supposed to be his new home and realized the contractor had cut corners. That frustration—knowing the work could be done better—became the reason he started his own roofing business. He wasn't interested in being another crew moving fast. He wanted to do the kind of work he'd want on his own house.

By the early 1980s, word had spread through Tarrant County. He started getting calls for more than roofs. Homeowners wanted trim work, custom details, the kind of finishing that transforms a house. So he learned. He got better at understanding what people actually saw when they walked into a room. The high-end homes he worked on taught him that every detail matters—not because it's visible, but because people feel it.

When I came into the business in the 1990s, I saw something my father had already figured out: people weren't really hiring us to install a kitchen. They were hiring us to help them imagine what their home could feel like. That shifted everything. We started learning cabinetry design, custom kitchens, bathrooms that work like they're supposed to. We invested in understanding materials, flow, light. We asked questions most contractors don't ask.

What Four Decades Taught Us

We're locally owned and family operated because that's how we were built. My father didn't want investors. We didn't chase franchise growth. That choice meant we could say no to jobs that didn't fit. We could spend three hours on a consultation instead of one because getting it right mattered more than moving to the next appointment. Over time, that became our advantage. Families came back. They referred neighbors. We built relationships that lasted decades, not contracts.
